An application for the forming of a NYRA Southern Ottawa County chapter, or NYRA-SOC, was approved by the NYRA Board of Directors during a meeting Wednesday, June 21. Membership is open to any member in Ottawa County, and there is no cost to join. Current Ottawa County residents will automatically be joined.
NYRA President Avi Hein was removed from office by the Board of Directors in an expected vote during a meeting on Wednesday, June 21. Hein was replaced by interim president Alex Koroknay-Palicz, who also serves as acting treasurer. Activist Jason Gerber has resigned from NYRA’s Board of Directors. Gerber, a high school student from the Washington, DC suburb of Rockville, Maryland, will continue his work in youth rights, and will remain with NYRA as a regular member. Announcements for an election to fill open Director seats will be sent soon.

The NYRA Board of Directors met December 27 in a meeting held over the telephone. During the meeting, the BOD held officer elections and approved six new position papers.
