Alex Koroknay-Palicz On The Jumbotron in Times Square

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that after 12 years of dedicated service to the National Youth Rights Association, Alex Koroknay-Palicz, our executive director, is stepping down. During his time here Alex has grown the organization from a small mailing list and website into a national presence with chapters and members around the country. He has spearheaded major initiatives including a win at The Supreme Court, legislative victories at every level of government and most recently the implementation of NYRA’s beautiful and professional new website.

After being dependent on Alex’s hard work for many years, he believes that NYRA is ready to move on to the next phase of its history. After a great deal of growth and the influx of many passionate, talented new people, NYRA can skillfully transition to new leadership without slowing our impressive growth and record of accomplishments. But hear Alex tell the story of his career with the organization and NYRA’s bright future here:

On a personal note I have to say that never in my career have I enjoyed a professional relationship more. Working with Alex these past two years has been a constant inspiration and I have learned and grown more under his leadership than I could have thought possible. It is for that reason that I have decided to forego my own salary next month in his honor. My contribution will go towards the next executive director’s salary so we can ensure we find the highest caliber replacement for our remarkable first executive director.

Many of you reading this blog have supported NYRA in the past. For some of you, this meant paying your membership dues. For others, this meant large operational grants. Many of you know Alex personally and many have worked directly with him on successful campaigns for youth rights. Today, I would like to ask all of you to join me in making a contribution in honor of Alex. As an added incentive, an anonymous donor has pledged to match your contribution dollar for dollar. 100% of the funds raised from this appeal will go towards the salary of our next executive director.
