A new era has begun and there is no turning back. Youth across the country
are standing up for their rights and are demonstrating to the world that
they will not back down in the face of oppression.

Savana Redding, who was invasively strip-searched by her school nurse at
the age of 13, was rewarded with justice by the United States Supreme Court
just a few days ago. NYRA is proud to have played a part in this historic
decision by filing an amicus curiae brief with the court.

NYRA-Southeast Florida, of which I am President, just made history by being
the first youth-led civil rights group to file a lawsuit against a youth
curfew.

Today, however, we are announcing some of the biggest news this
organization has had in years. News that will change the way this
organization runs and will ensure NYRA will be an active, professional, and
growing advocate for the rights of youth for many years to come.

NYRA is hiring a professional Development Director.

In order to hire him, we need your help. Please visit
http://youghrights.org/donate and help give NYRA the support it needs to
hire a qualified candidate. Now, this is an investment in the future of the
youth rights movement. We look forward to watching our new Development
Director turn this initial investment into the budget of a formidable and
viable national organization. Thanks to an anonymous donor, your donations
made at http://youthrights.org/donate will be matched, dollar for dollar,
until July 15th. Plus, because of this you are able to sign up as a Life
Member for just $75 instead of the usual $150.

For only $75 you can make sure NYRA has a long, successful future and
guarantee that you'll be a part of it every step of the way. NYRA has
approached a turning point and it now hinges on one thing: your support.
You can give us that support by donating to our cause.

Hiring a professional fundraiser will provide NYRA the long-term growth,
stability, and resources to finally win this battle for youth rights. But
professional fundraisers need to be paid. We need your help to raise funds
to pay our new staff member: http://youthrights.org/donate.

It is imperative that we, as an organization, continue to give youth across
the nation the opportunity to strive for justice. I personally recognize
the national organization's help as being instrumental to our successes on
a chapter level.

An immense philanthropic power is being placed into your hands, the power
to offer the opportunity of justice and equality to this nation's youth. As
an organization, we are ready to take a huge step forward.

WIth this one step, NYRA's position as the voice of America's youth will be
fortified. Our role as the central organization that represents the
interests of youth will be immesaurably strengthened. We are confident that
the successes of our organization will multiply and that the strength and
unity of our country's youth will experience limitless growth.

This organization has thrived due to our passion for civil rights, our
dedication to protecting the freedom and equality of young people, and the
creativity and inventiveness of our members. But we have always lacked the
proper resources to become the influential force we all need NYRA to be.
Hiring a professional fundraiser will finally change this.

Will you be the one to step out of the crowd and announce boldly that you
will no longer stand for the injustices to which youth are subjected? Let
us know by going to http://youthrights.org/donate. Think of all we have
done this year: filed a lawsuit against an unconstitutional curfew, won a
Supreme Court case, overturned ageist policies at dozens of businesses, and
made serious progress in efforts to lower voting ages in several states.

Imagine we we could do with a proper budget. Will you help us get there by
going, right now, to http://youthrights.org/donate ?

Our chapter could never have accomplished what it has without the support
of the national organization. Each member of the national organization and
each chapter leader, myself included, is looking to you now for support.
Help us give the same opportunity that NYRA-Southeast Florida has had to
other young people across America. We are counting on your support.

Jeffrey Nadel
President
NYRA of Southeast Florida

PS - Don't forget, NYRA's 2009 Board of Directors Election begins tomorrow!
Only dues paying members can vote; now is the perfect time to pay your
member dues so you are able to vote, and have your dues count double for
the organization!
