Dear NYRA Supporters,
Youth Rights is on the march!
What a great week to be a youth rights supporter! Tuesday,
NYRA-Southeast Florida filed their lawsuit against West Palm Beach's
curfew law. This was the first lawsuit filed entirely by a NYRA chapter.
Then today, in an 8 to 1 decision, the US Supreme Court declared the
strip search of Arizona middle school student Savana Redding to be
illegal! This was the first Supreme Court case in which NYRA was
officially a part, since we filed a joint amicus curiae brief in support
of Ms. Redding. Perhaps this ruling is a good omen for NYRA-SEFL's
curfew case.
NYRA is proud to be a part of two major youth rights events in one week,
and we hope our members will join us in celebrating!
