In so many ways, this is our main opposition. There is, of course, anti-youth sentiment soaked in society, placed there by the refusal to revolutionize that which is comfortable for those in power, and all of it needs to be fought. But there is nothing so invested in the status of minors as unpeople as a movement which seeks to brainwash them and give them no choice but to propagate their ideology in large numbers. These people* have as many children as possible, restrict their access to information to that within the ideology, and force them to do the work of raising their younger siblings until the wife can have no more. These people also force activism (like picketing in front of Planned Parenthood) and religion, of course, on their children. They force ideological training through various ways, and keep them out of unapproved social circles. Any deviation from the standard is met with emotional if not physical abuse. The point of these parents lives is to shape their ~20 children into automatons for their cause. All this is facilitated by current laws, and I guarantee you, these are the people saying "the government can't tell me what to do with my kids!" This is where youth rights legislation will find pre-organized resistance. This is the reason the US has not ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of a Child*. If we are to introduce such legislation and organize effectively, it may serve us to take note of and strategize around that fact.
This blog details the movement: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/l…..yfeminism/. If you haven't been in it, it can be hard to believe it exists in this century.
*This information obtained from reading the material from the groups that organize against it. It uses this movement's public propaganda.
*There are many people with the same ideology who, for various reasons, haven't taken it to its logical conclusion. My parents were in this category: My mom was disabled and had difficult pregnancies.

The Christian patriarchy movement is an extreme example of the ageism, sexism, and heterosexism rampant in American society. That said, they do not represent mainstream Americans and by themselves are not responsible for the prevalence of ageism in our culture. Right now, ageism isn't the same as sexism or racism. It's not something that educated, intelligent people are ashamed to cop to. People in all sectors of our society – lawyers, doctors, college professors, janitors, truck drivers, accountants, students, and nearly everyone else – more or less accept the idea that children are parental property who belong either at school or in the home. I wish it was as simple as pinning it on a small group of radical religious fanatics, but it's not. We are the radical ones. Every institution in our society is premised on the notion that minors are non-persons and non-citizens. The outcome of children in Christian patriarchy families is just the most extreme example of the tyranny governing the lives of every American under the age of eighteen.

I do agree with that. The Christian Patriarchy movement has already organized and is actively opposed to youth rights. It's where I suspect real counter-activism would come from, as opposed to casual disagreement or reservations from people not invested in the cause, simply invested in the dominant culture.

So basically they are our K.K.K well that's good to know
|
It shouldn't be a crime to be young
The spirit of revolution that flooded our country during the 60's and 70's didn't die out but sadly became dorimant during the 80's but awoke again during the 90's and is rising during the 2000's and it will fly again changing our country until it's truly becomes the land of the free and home of the brave freeing everyone because nobody is free until everybody is free
Us minors, teens, children, youth, or whatever you like to call us are we not citizens and human beings and if we are how come we not treated like it
