Part of the problem with bullies and bullying.

Kids are not allowed to defend themselves. The first problem is that kids are constantly taught to, "ignore it and just let a teacher know." Then the teacher confronts the bully who puts on an angel act. The kid who ratted him out gets subjected to even more ridicule and bullying for telling on him.

The second problem I will illustrate through a story I just heard from one of my lil cousins. His friend was getting bullied. Physically and verbally. He refused to tell any adults because of the reason I laid out above. So my cousin convinces him to fight back (we are a family of fighters lol). So sometime last week the bully starts his shit and my cousins friend goes right back at him. The bully gets physical and my cousins friend punches him. The physically bigger bully starts to beat my cousins friend, so my cousin jumps in and helps end the fight. Now my cousin, his friend, and the bully are all in trouble and all have to see a counselor.

Short version: Sticking up for yourself in schools gets you in trouble, just as if you were the perpetrator.

Obviously we should be trying to solve the underlying problems with bullies (home problems, self-esteem, etc.) but standing up for yourself almost always works. Believe me.

My school system's worse. If a person gets punched on my campus, and does NOTHING in response, and it gets back to the office, both bully and victim are punished. Looking at things from a historical perspective, this means my school would condemn Gandhi for being hit by the club.

my solution. if youre going to get in trouble no matter what then quit being weak and fight back! worst case scenario you beat your ass beat but everyone will see that you will fight back if provoked even if you're sure to lose. school and prison are alike in the respect that the aggressors go for easy targets in most cases.

how about you jihad on my 40mm m-203 hedp rounds. see how that works out for ya.

If schools were allowed to just kick out bullies, and students who were being bullied were allowed to just quit school, it would solve a lot of problems.

That is why you don't hear about people being bullied in the workplace or in college as much as you hear about people being bullied in compulsory education. Adults have freedom to flee from people who abuse them.

If your coworkers mistreat you, you would take a hint and find a new job. It's not a big deal. I've had jobs where I didn't get along with the people, so now I don't work there anymore! If the law required adults to work at certain jobs, and forbid them from quitting, you would see bullying problems with adults just as much as with kids.

Have you heard of the Stanford Prison Experiment? If you place people in a bad environment, they can suddenly become capable of brutal acts.

People talk as if bullying is a problem that is specific to youth, as if kids are just naturally inclined to bully, and adults aren't. I think it's not a problem caused by kids themselves, but by the environment that kids are placed in.

My sister told me about someone who got suspended for being in a headlock.

"Ageism is the first discrimination people face in their lifetimes. It opens the door to other forms of discrimination. When kids are taught that adults are superior to them, they also learn to accept that men are superior to women, whites are superior to blacks, and jocks are superior to nerds. They learn that people with power should be bullies and people without power should be easy victims." - Concealed Weapon, "The Real Meaning of Liberty"

Note to self: have a discussion about school bullying with class that leads to the inevitable conclusion that punishing victims is a dick move. Write "Dick Move" on the whiteboard to illustrate point.

It doesn't surprise me that they'll go after the kid being bullied as much as the one doing the bullying. I was bullied a lot in school and always got in trouble for defending myself. The bullies were the popular kids who were on the sports teams, cheer leading or the parents were in the PTA. My parents weren't PTA and I wasn't involved in school activities, which, I think, made me the disfavored outsider.

Since the person being bullied is going to get in trouble anyway under the wonderful ZT rules, they might as well throw caution to the wind and punch the bully's lights out. That way, when they get back from their two-week vacation from prison, hopefully, the bully will have learned some respect for them.

Freedom is a birth right, not a reward that must be earned.

That's why you need to make sure the bully ends up in the hospital. You get fucked regardless…may as well make sure he spends plenty of quality time with the physical therapy team after rebuilding two shattered kneecaps.

Write soemthing nasty about it to the local newspaper, maybe? Get the word out and people might well get angry. Anyway, taht is fucked up. Majorly.

I remember being bullied as a kid. Not fun…

The only people who read the newspaper anymore are the people who condone bullying because "that's how it was in their day."

But someone needs to draw serious attention to the issue.

Personally, I'd go for the DDoS against the school network. It would definitely get the press's attention.

Yeah, and paint the perpetrators as Anons.

Instead, peacefully talk to the administrators about the problem. Get enough students to do it, and they will do something.

Also, most schools encourage or even force the students to have "school spirit", which is just a nicer way of saying "unconditional respect for sports players". This allows jocks to bully anyone they want.

I know a kid who witnessed a fight and ended up suspended because he failed to report the fight to his teacher or the front office. This has obviously gone too far. The incident totally affected the kid since he wasn't allowed to make up the work on the days he missed school resulting in an "F" on a missed test and a "D" in the class. As an "A" student, he was really upset about this.

Please. The school admins never act on bullying until someone comes in with a trenchcoat and even after that, they only vigorously enforce anti-bullying policies until the news media finds a different story. The schools get too much money and too many trophies from bullies to risk putting them on them on the bench because of a test they missed during a suspension.

I think the only real way this can be solved is for NYRA or some other similar organization to go to states and get them to fix this shit so situations like those above don't happen.

They only do something about bullying when a parent complains. The complaining parent is often the bully's parent, which only makes the bullying worse.

There are schools that do nothing about bullies or bulling, but send students to the office for having American Flags on their T-shirts.

I’m 35 and thus, age restrictions may not affect me. But the conduct of some politicians concerns me.

I never got bullied in my school because I was very good at delivering verbal lashings in response. The area in which I lived was too high income for anyone to get physical, though. I think a fight occurred once during my whole public education, it was big news.

when i was in elementary school i was bullied quite a lot. i was made fun of because of my appearance such as my skin color and my freckles… i tried to ignore it but that didn't work. instead it made it worse. i was constantly the outcast. i would sit alone at lunch. and if i tried to stick up for myself or tell a teacher nothing would be done to help me. the teachers think sending students to the guidance counselor helps but it doesn't. instead the bullies then make your life a living hell. i think teachers should pay more attention to the bullies, instead of just ignoring the person who complains
