Alex: lol

I second Alex and Steve. People have the right to not have parents, government or others snooping into their private affairs, and that includes online, on the computer, or on a cell phone.

By banning people the make two posts in the same thread on the same topic in two minutes.

Question for all candidates, will you have time available to meet all responsibilities that come with being on the board, including regularly attending meetings? If something comes up where you no longer have the time available, will you resign?

Question for incumbents, how many board meetings have you missed since being elected last year?

I will have time, and always make time for NYRA>

I believe I've missed one board meeting in the last 5 years. Because I was playing GTA… cute

Practically speaking, what would be done by the org to support technological privacy/freedom?

What is your opinion on technological privacy?

As far as youth rights is concerned, I strongly believe that privacy is important to people of all ages and that parents who feel they need to invade their children's privacy should probably develop their relationship with their children better to the point where they trust them well enough to not need technological aid. However, there are many important issues for NYRA to focus on at the moment, and this shouldn't necessarily be our top priority.

will you have time available to meet all responsibilities that come with being on the board, including regularly attending meetings? If something comes up where you no longer have the time available, will you resign?

Absolutely. Each of the three years I have run for the board, I have carefully considered this decision and weighed it against the other commitments I had that year. I take all of these commitments, especially NYRA, very seriously and will set aside the time this job requires. If I wasn't sure I would have enough time for NYRA, I wouldn't run in the first place.

Question for incumbents, how many board meetings have you missed since being elected last year?

I don't believe I've missed any board meetings this year, although the attendance record is generally posted on the elections page, so if Alex does that again, you can check.

"Thanks for your e-mail and I appreciate the fact that you articulated your viewpoint in a rational and cogent manner. A few questions though, Stefan. Who are you voting for in the Presidential Election this November? Kerry? Bush? Oh, you mean you can't vote? Why is that? What kind of car do you drive? Ford? Jeep? Oh you mean you don't drive. Why is that? Why is that you can't just stay home for the rest of the year and not go to school? Why?"

- New York City Councilman James Oddo, in a letter to me, October 2004.

I have never missed a board meeting and never intend to. NYRA always comes first.

For all candidates, are Sunday evenings good for you? Around 7pm Eastern, give or take? If elected, will you stay committed for the next year and participate regularly in meetings and on our board discussion list? This isn't just something to do on a whim or something that might just sound nice. It's a real responsibility.

They are bringing up micro-issues, bogging down this thread, and things there are more or less a consensus on, and definitely a consensus on them from the candidates.

That was such an edit. I didn't see him mention the source when I answered, though that also applies as a reason.

How do you think NYRA can help make youth rights a more mainstream idea?

Education of the general populace, on both a national and local scale, are vital to bringing youth rights to the forefront of national social discussion. This can be done by more exposure in various types of media and definitely by establishing a larger presence on the internet, college campuses, and popular cases involving issues of youth rights in some way.

Is there any YR-related issue you think NYRA should be tackling right now that they're not?

Higher level education access and financing for the youth. Do you have any suggestions to such issues? I am currently fine with the issues we currently tackle, but if any escape me, I'd love to know.

What is your position on having a position on parental consent laws?

I think a position would be just fine on the issue, if it is what the membership and its supporters truly want.

Furthermore, what is your position on having a banana option for Board elections?

Depends on the color and taste of said banana, also noting the fact that after I have eaten the banana board member, would we get another banana to replace him and would it be by appointment or another election? Noting all the problems that come with electing a banana, I opt against it and instead suggest a banana social after the election.

How about your stances on circumcision?

My personal stance on the issue is that while aesthetically pleasing, it really should be left up to the individual being circumcised, not the parents.

How about religious freedom, i.e., the right to chose to not follow the parents' religion?

I definitely advocate and support religious freedom and would welcome adopting this matter as a position. However, this is also why I believe we shouldn't take a position on the circumcision issue, for risk of alienating religious supporters and members who see it as a crucial part of their cultural practices and beliefs.

What is your opinion on technological privacy? Practically speaking, what would be done by the org to support technological privacy/freedom?

I definitely support technological privacy and net neutrality, especially in this age of the rapidly growing panopticon and the birth of our modern surveillance society. However, what NYRA can do instead of working on this issue unilaterally is to work with sister organizations that have this issue at the forefront, such as the EFF. By lending our support to them and encouraging members to work on their campaigns, we further strengthen youth rights, even if the fight occurs outside of our jurisdiction.

Question for all candidates, will you have time available to meet all responsibilities that come with being on the board, including regularly attending meetings? If something comes up where you no longer have the time available, will you resign?

I will comply with all my duties and beyond and should I fail or will approach a situation that will severely hinder my ability to serve, I will tender my resignation.

Will you focus on important things and not stuff like fixing the Newswire check boxes?

Of course, but that doesn't mean we can't get someone to fix them. :-)

What form(s) of activism to you most support? Least support?

I support educational campaigns (especially literature distribution and free seminars), direct action, lobbying, and protests, along with visibility in related activities. I least support "inactive activism", where being a member and claiming to be an activist (while having the time to indeed be one) in reality does not help you, the organization, or the issues we support.

Candidates, how do you feel about disallowing any further questions from Juna?

Is not everyone entitled to a voice here?
