The reason that none of the chapters sent in their money is we had to get it. I was unaware that you had recived the bands or I would have been trying to get the money together. It makes no sense for us to buy them at $1.50, why not let us do it at the origional price and a part of the $250 it took for molding cost. buying them at $1.50 means that we make an average of $0.45 per band after shipping, thats no good to any of the chapters.

National put up $852 for these bands because the chapters wanted us to, and agreed to put up some of the money for the upfront costs of getting these things made. You and Berkeley promised to help cover the costs of these things:

jtgoose wrote: NYRA-Olympia will try to go in for $200 – $250 I will check back after our meeting on Friday to tell you when we can have the money. I'd say go for the $1000 but let people sell them for however much they want as long as its at least $1. NYRA-Olympia is in though.

Buying the bands at cost is a posability (.85 cents per), but again, you promised to help cover some of the upfront costs of making this order in the first place. So not all the risk is on national. If you buy the bands for full price, then that really helps, because then the chapter takes on some of the risk involved in selling them all. Plus it'd be a heck of a lot easier to keep track of everything.

Lets say you buy like 200 bands for $300. Then you are paying $170 to get the bands at cost, and spending $130 to help out national with the order by taking these off our hands entirely. Then its up to Olympia to make back that $130 (or more).

So just think of that $130 as the committment you made earlier to help out national with the cost of these things. If Berkeley does the same thing, then everything will be straight and we'll be sharing the costs pretty well, and no one is risking too much on it.

And again, you really should apply for Youth Venture money, you can get a bundle to help with paying for the wrist bands and such.

we're gonna sell em for 2 bucks a pop I thought Jason. People will pay that. They already pay 10 bucks a pop for the LiveStrong bands. National has Berkeley's promise to reimburse the complete costs plus a little profit. We just don't have the money upfront. We're trying. Plus Berkeley Voting age thing. Plus San Francisco voting age thing. we're swamped. Fundraising isn't going too well right now. We're just relying on Pamela (our new Prez) to do the Youth Venture Application soon. Pam! ::nudges::

I suppose if Olympia and Berkeley can PROMISE (iron clad folks) to repay the full amount within a certain time, I can just ship a bulk order out to both of you asap.

Thanks a lot, Alex. I got the bands yesterday. You know how you charged me $3 for shipping and handling. The shipping was only about $.86 or something. What are you going to do? Send me a refund or send me a bracelet?
