Hey everyone, I know it's been years since I've been here, but I've been dealing with a lot of personal stuff that you probably don't want to hear about.

Anyway, I've recently stumbled onto one of those rare forums where the admins and mods aren't total douchebags and let people say some politically incorrect stuff, so I figured it would be the perfect spot to open up a thread where non-youth-rights people could participate in a discussion about ageism without anyone getting called a pedophile and banned for saying that AoC laws shouldn't exist. Of course, the thread didn't even finish two pages before people started implying that the one person championing The Cause must be doing so only because OMG PEDO, and I figured it couldn't hurt to call in some backup from the ASF… I mean, NYRA forums.

You do realize though that getting rid of AoC laws will allow pedos to be involved in consensual sexual relationships with children. So honestly a pedo supporting youth rights isn't that twisted of an accusation lol

It's the implication that people who support youth rights are pedos that is problematic.

What needs to happen is we need to get rid of pedos and the AoC at the same time… If that makes any sense?

Think about it, Pedos are kind of a sign of an oppressed class. Like sexist rapists are to women. Or those masters who used their slaves as mastrubation tools in those books on slavery… I don't think that there is any sort of oppressed class of people who hasn't had sex crime problems. And honestly, have you ever heard of non oppressed classes having sex crime problems. Old White Aryian Men, Do you ever hear about them being brutally raped?

Yeah, "pedophile" is a euphemism for people perpetrating a specific hate crime against youth. I don't even like using the word. A more accurate term is "child-raper."

As for age of consent laws, they can be written in ways that respect youth. In some states, the law is only broken when there is a significant age-difference between the two people involved. That allows youth to live their lives without adults taking advantage of power dynamics that leave some youth feeling they must obey any adult.
