So if evrything is equal and about attention and saftey, we should all wear uniforms and shave our heads.

But I'm easily distractred by groups of people who all look the same.

If someone wants to wear those things, I'm certainly not going to try to stop them, but I would indeed be unnerved by it.

AND, your point is………

Freedom is acquired by conquest, not by gift. It must be pursued constantly and responsibly. Freedom is not an ideal located outside of man; nor is it an idea which becomes myth. It is rather the indispensable condition for the quest for human completion

-Paulo Freire

We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.

I have expressed my point already. While I don't like certain things and don't think anyone should wear it, I'm not going to stop them or try to stop them because it is their choice to wear it.

I agree you can dislike something, I was inquiring this entire time about your willingness to allow school admins to disallow what they dislike?

No. No. No. I never said that I was willing to allow school administrators to forbid what they dislike.

I clearly marked what I edited. Even so, my posts not once indicated that school administrators should ban something just because they don't like it.

Adam, I feel the same way about stupid saggin' pants. School is supposed to prepare you for life and in life, fair or not, the fact is that nobody is going to hire your stupid ass for anything other than a job at McDonald's if you can't even pull up your fucking pants. Doesn't matter if you have a 1600 on your SATs and a doctorate in physics, ppl will still take one look at your underwear and show you the door. Call it unfair, call it discriminatory, call it whatever, and you're probably right. That still doesn't change the reality of it. Bitch and moan until Hell freezes over, it still won't change reality.

As for the hot topic pants…. I think they're pretty cool, but yeah, I can see how those chains could be easily removed and used as weapons. Of course, if someone wearing those pants gets in a fight, they'd better remove the damn chain. All that extra weight and things dangling around you impairs your agility and makes you LESS able to defend yourself. Even loose fitting clothes are not good in a fight. You'll end up getting your ass handed to you after you trip over a chain and fall on your face lol But, again, they do LOOK cool.

Adam, every school has exceptions for medical reasons. That was kinda my piont smile

Urban schools in LA don't allow hats because of gang activity, and I'm all for that.

Most jobs have dress codes. I don't think it would be such a bad thing to require some decency in schools.

The whole "Skirt must fall below your straight arm" or whatever is too much. A loose sort of recomendation sort of thing like:

"Students should dress appropriately for learning."

That's pretty subjective and teachers would abuse it, but in a perfect world it would work. tongue

What about a store specializing in those kinds of clothes? wink

sometimes, (o.k. i lied, a lot) I wonder why they don't allow things such as sunglasses, coats, or hats. If they say "blacks aren't people" or something on them I could understand, but not if the only thing on them is the material and color.

I understand in situations like Zach mentioned earlier with gang symbolism (and colors).

Our school eliminated their dress code policies for this school year. It's disgusting to see chicks wandering around with their ass hanging out of their skirts or about to pop out of their low-cut shirts. It's distracting, it's disgusting, and it takes away from most's learning experience.

But it THEIR CHOICE to let their saggy ass drag and their shitty boobs bounce. We should NOT regulate that. Gangs are also not enitrely bad. Thats just a generalization like the one about teens being immature. Gangs can be places where outcasts gain acceptence or beleive it or not, they can KEEP kids out of trouble. You shouldn't generalize like that.

Hate does not HAVE to be. We don't NEED to regulate evrything BECAUSE of generalizations. By your opinion, its RIGHT to dicriminate against YOUTH because SOME are as bad as they say we aremad-tounge

Um, hi? Go to a LA high school wearing the wrong color. They ban red and blue because people get shot over it. They don't want people getting shot at school. Seems perfectly logical to me.

There have been plenty of examples of "grown-up" life involving dress codes. Your point is moot.

Wait, people get shot over it and they actually have tot ell kids to not wear it? Seems kinda unneseasary…
Jack: Hmm I could wear this gray shirt witht the kitty cat on it and get made fun of or wear the blue shirt and get shot. Decisions decisions…

Also seems like if gang members wore there gang clotehs teachers would know who's likely to cause trouble and watch them.

Don't you see it?
