Hi I live in ID and Im currently In a facility. I have been on adult extended custody since I was 18 and just turned 20. I have tried to get off but they keep me on. I have been responsible, held a job, and made good choices. Yet they will not acknowledge my improvement. At this point there is no sense in fighting law wise for my freedom when in reality you don't have really a say. the doctors and parents have it. Im wanting to leave and head over to cali. There they don't have juryistiction. I am wondering if Im able to do this and be gone for 14 days how will I now if Im off or not? I also have heard stories of people leaving the state and they pick them up with private search parties. Is this possible. please help me so I can make my choices for once and show that I'm a responsible adult capable of making the right decision. To prove I'm able to take care of my self.

Well running away might hurt your case. Paint you as unstable or some such.

 

Now, I'm not sure anyone here can help you with this. You may want to try getting in contact with disability rights groups. Especially the ones with political clout. You also might want to try here:

I find your references to "being a responsible adult", "making good choices" and "holding down a job"
a bit worrying

It suggests that you think you need to show these things before you can have any rights
furthermore people frequently cite these as reasons why "children" should have no rights.
