Forums Expanded

The Youth Rights Forums, a resource of NYRA’s website, youth-rights.org, has expanded its topics to include several new discussions, including hot issues such as the ongoing debate about prayer in public schools. Members and non-members alike are invited to participate in the online discussions.

MI Chapter Formed

An application for the forming of a NYRA Southern Ottawa County chapter, or NYRA-SOC, was approved by the NYRA Board of Directors during a meeting Wednesday, June 21. Membership is open to any member in Ottawa County, and there is no cost to join. Current Ottawa County residents will automatically be joined.

Hein Released, Replaced By Koroknay-Palicz

NYRA President Avi Hein was removed from office by the Board of Directors in an expected vote during a meeting on Wednesday, June 21. Hein was replaced by interim president Alex Koroknay-Palicz, who also serves as acting treasurer. NYRA Director Resigns

Activist Jason Gerber has resigned from NYRA’s Board of Directors. Gerber, a high school student from the Washington, DC suburb of Rockville, Maryland, will continue his work in youth rights, and will remain with NYRA as a regular member. Results of NYRA BOD Meeting

The NYRA Board of Directors met December 27 in a meeting held over the telephone. During the meeting, the BOD held officer elections and approved six new position papers. NYRA officers elected at the meeting were Vice President, which went to acting Vice President Matt Herman, and Treasurer, which went to BOD member Alex Koroknay-Palicz. [...]

NYRA’s mission centers on challenging age discrimination against young people, both in law and in attitudes and supporting the basic freedoms afforded to young Americans in the Bill of Rights.
